Do these holidays apply in every Malaysian state?

This calendar lists the nationwide holidays gazetted at the federal level. Each Malaysian state also gazettes its own additional holidays (such as state rulers' birthdays and New Year's Day, which is a state — not national — holiday), and Sarawak does not observe Deepavali. Check your state's calendar for the complete local list.

Can Malaysian holiday dates change?

Yes. Islamic holiday dates (Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Hari Raya Haji, Awal Muharram, Maulidur Rasul) follow official moon-sighting confirmation and can shift. When a holiday falls on a Sunday, the following day is a replacement holiday under the Holidays Act 1951; the government can also declare additional one-off holidays.
