How does Mondayisation work in New Zealand?

When Waitangi Day, Anzac Day, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, or the New Year holidays fall on a weekend, the holiday is observed on the following Monday (or Tuesday) for employees who would not normally work that weekend day. In 2026, Anzac Day (Saturday, 25 April) is Mondayised to 27 April and Boxing Day (Saturday, 26 December) to 28 December.

What is Matariki and when is it in 2026?
