Seasons in Peru

Peru is in the Southern Hemisphere, with tropical wet and dry seasons rather than four temperate seasons. The wet/dry split fits the Andes and Amazon; the coast (including Lima) is arid with cool, foggy winters.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a 'día no laborable' in Peru?

A non-working day decreed by the government for public-sector employees, whose hours must be recovered later — unlike a feriado, which is a paid holiday. Private employers may adopt it by agreement. For 2026, the decreed days are Friday 2 January and Monday 27 July, the latter creating a five-day Fiestas Patrias stretch (25–29 July).

Does Peru move holidays that fall on a weekend?

No. Peruvian feriados stay on their fixed dates. In 2026, the Battle of Arica Day (7 June), Santa Rosa de Lima (30 August), and All Saints' Day (1 November) fall on Sundays without substitute days; the government instead declares strategic non-working days to create long weekends.
