Why does this Switzerland calendar show only 8 holidays?

Switzerland delegates public holidays to its 26 cantons — only 1 August is fixed federally. This calendar shows the days observed virtually everywhere. Depending on the canton, the local list adds days such as Berchtoldstag (2 January), Corpus Christi, Assumption Day, All Saints' Day, or the Geneva fast, for a cantonal total of 8 to 15.

Is Labour Day (1 May) a holiday in Switzerland?

Only in some cantons. 1 May is a full or partial public holiday in cantons such as Zurich, Basel-Stadt, and Jura, but not nationwide — so it is not included in this calendar.
